PLUTO gallery is the brainchild of artist Avery Shaffer of Ellenburg & Shaffer - Glass Art Studio and is located in Downtown Greensboro. The gallery arose out of need for a clean, modern setting in which to showcase the developing works created in the medium of warm glass, also referred to as fused or slumped glass. PLUTO is home to a magnificent kiln that was created by Randy Beeninga of Foreign Accents (foreign car repair extraordinaire turned kiln guru). Part sculpture, part functional, the kiln is impressive in it’s own right and sets front and center for all visitors to see. On display you’ll find glass bowls, sushi trays, snowflakes, candle shields and glass sculptures. Each item is unique and hand made right here in our own glass kiln. The gallery will feature guest artists working in a variety of media. Currently you can view works by our featured metal sculptor, Jacob DeCola along with works by Beatrice Schall, Jeffery Barbour, Eric Beerbower, Randy Beninga, William Brian Hibbard and Avery Shaffer. PLUTO gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 5.

I’d like to thank my friends, family and patrons for making this fantastic dream come true, especially:
Randy Beeninga, artist, friend and mentor who conceptualized and created this amazing kiln; Thank You!
George Ellenburg, artist and friend. Without you this would not be possible. Thanks for helping me turn my ideas into reality.
James Nickerson, Cody Odom and Adam Ard. You guys are an awesome team. Thanks for believing in this project and putting up with the chaos of the renovation; you guys ROCK!
And finally, a huge Thank You to our friends who support our studio and who we have the privilege of creating beautiful glass for their home and business.
